Chimney stacks
Dangerous or redundant chimney stacks? If your house was built before 1965, there is a good chance that its chimney is unlined and is simply a rectangular duct with brickwork that’s either rendered with cement or even exposed. Over the years, the corrosive elements in the combustion gases rising from the fire eat into a chimney’s mortor and brickwork and weaken it, allowing condensation to pass through and form damp patches on the chimney breast. We can either repair such elements or safely remove the chimney to below roof level, when no longer required.
